ST GEORGE Paul E. Hinman, Sr., died Monday afternoon in an Aircraft accident.
He was 67 years old. Born August 8, 1934, to Howard and Dorothy Hinman. Paul was a gifted pilot, loving husband, nurturing father and grand-father, and friend to all.
Paul was a United States Air Force Command Pilot for over 26 years with over 9,000 flight hours. Some of the aircraft Paul flew was the 0-2, C-7, B- 25, F-100, T-29, T-33, T-39, C-47, C- 119, C-124, C-130, and the KC-135 tanker. After his honorable retirement, he joined the Federal Aviation Administration where he performed as a Flight Standards Safety Inspector. After retirement, he briefly flew the Metroliner for Sky West Airlines. He was currently the Skywest Customer Service Representative in St. George, Utah and a flight instructor with Aero West flying many local students.
Born in Oquawka, IL, Paul has lived in many places throughout the world and the United States. Some of his residences include the USAF in Mobile and Montgomery, Alabama; the FAA in Gregory, Michigan, Reno, Nevada, and Casper, Wyoming, and finally settling in St. George, Utah.
He leaves his endearing wife, Suzanne Hinman of over 34 years, sons; William Hinman of Panama City, Florida; Stephen Hinman of Aurora, Colorado; Paul Hinman, Jr., of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Deborah Bamberg, Corsicana, Texas, and 8 grandchildren. Preceded in death by one son, Lt. Robert L. Hinman, USN, his parents, and one brother, Edwin.
Services were held Thursday, September 27, at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 300 W. St. George Blvd., at 5:00 p.m.
